Mothership Art Residency is a multi-building complex and former satellite receiving station (“Earth Station”) formerly used by Alascom. The existing infrastructure consists of two massive satellite dishes, three concrete structures built from hollow-core pretensioned concrete panels, and steel raceways that once conveyed air conditioning and electrical infrastructure.

Our team was tasked with converting the existing structures into an art residency campus without touching adjacent environmental zones that surround the complex. The design will add art studios, connected by elevated walkways, to create a scenic park to be filled with gardens, paths, and social spaces.

The main concrete building will be filled with art studios and a communal kitchen.
